Lloyd Lee Hunter was born on a farm in the backwoods of Louisiana, in a log cabin on a lake, on March 5, 1943. A college education was not a goal aspired to by ninety-nine percent of the farmers in that area. Farming was not an option. Magazines showing white-collar professionals making a living inspired Lloyd to set his goal to obtain a college education.
After graduating from High School in 1964, Lloyd spent four years in the United States Air Force as a Security Policeman, attaining the rank of Sergeant. A month after his discharge, he settled in California and soon started attending a junior college. Lloyd married his college sweetheart in 1971. They graduated together from Los Angeles Trade Technical Collage with A.A. Degrees in 1972. They also graduated together from California State College at Los Angeles in 1974. Lloyd received a B.S. Degree in Business Administration, and his wife received a B.A. Degree in Psychology. A retired Aerospace Engineer, Lloyd and his wife have been married for 36 years and have three children.
Lloyd's writing career began as a hobby. His interest had him taken classes in creative writing, read books on writing fiction, non-fiction, plotting, development, dialogue, and screenwriting, all of which helped him develop his craft. His experiences attending classes and seminars over the years have led him to appreciate the creativity within each of us.
The scarcity of major works of fiction addressing the contribution of over 180,000 black soldiers made to the outcome of the Civil War inspired Lloyd to wrote Black Maverick, a story about two adopted brothers, one an ex-slave, and the other an abandoned Mexican boy adopted by a white man. From day one, the ex-slave clings to a sense of INDEBTEDNESS to his adopted father that he must repay. Years later, the brothers are forced into military service in the American Civil War to escape revenge of gunmen. The ex-slave becomes Black Maverick, a secret Union scout, feared and hated by the Confederates, who by night, sabotaged their camps and movements. Commonwealth Publications published Black Maverick in 1997.
Man on the Run, the biography of Lloyd's grandfather, tells the story of a boy that leaves home in search of adventure. He soon winds up in jail. This starts him on a life of living on the edge of reality and insanity. His insatiable lust for beautiful women, fine liquor, and fine clothes often put him in situations where he must kill or be killed. He is in and out of prisons, running from the law for more than 20 years. BookSurge LLC, an Amazon.com company, published Man on the Run in August 3, 2005.
Silent Kill is a screenplay about an African-American Vietnam Congressional Medal of Honor winner in 1968. In 1970, he lives in a rural community near Tallulah, Louisiana, and his primary goal is to put his brother through college. However, that goal is upset when a drug dealer/land developer make an attempt on their lives when the Medal of Honor winner refuses to sell the family farm. This causes him to resort to, Silent Kill, a one-man weapon he used so valiantly in Vietnam. Not produced.
Shadow Warriors, a screenplay inspired by a true story, is written as a tribute to black soldiers of past wars in an attempt to bring the gallantry of black heroes to the forefront. Shadow Warriors tells the story of bravery, sacrifice, distrust, and racism as seen through the eyes of two soldiers during WWII. Not produced.
